Vegetables on the edge are always a tough call. They’re expensive, so you’re disinclined to chuck them prematurely. There’s a phase in the shelf life of the fresh vegetable when you feel bad for throwing them away, but they’re a little too mature to actually eat. So you put them back when you clean out the fridge. Until next week when you come across them and realize that you’ve found the source of the smell. Then you throw them away to make room for the new vegetables whose remaining portion will stink up my fridge the following week. Your fridge. Dammit.
