I’m not comfortable with the quick back-and-forth line delivery featured lately in many network sitcoms. Are they doing it that way on purpose? Did a roomful of suits look at a couple pie charts and figure out that unnaturally rapid conversation squeezes in more subliminal product placement? (Good Lord, that is exactly what happened; isn’t it?!) It’s a little like Gilmore Girls on Quaaludes; think, “The Chipmunks meet Cheech and Chong.” I don’t like it. I think Mrs. Babcock would claim that it sounds like one actor already knows what the other is going to say. What’s more; I agree with her.
