I just finished The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and I have to say that I was not particularly impressed. I found the main character neither intriguing nor memorable, though I’m almost positive that I was supposed to. The beginning of the book hinted that the mysterious bad thing that was coming was the most awful thing ever; and then it was. Where’s the mystery in that? Maybe it lost something in translation, but I thought the most noteworthy thing about the book was the characters’ universal consumption of sandwiches. Insomnia? Sandwiches. Lunch at home? Sandwiches. Lunch at a cafe? Sandwiches. Act of vengeance, then sandwiches. Sex. But first, sandwiches.
