Why do they still make Chinese food containers with metal handles? Oh, sure, there are those “fusion”-y type places with re-usable tupperware-like take-out containers (they’re even dishwasher safe. Really.) But classic Chinese food takeout containers are still folded cardboard with metal handles. There’s something very ’90s about eating Chinese takeout from a folded cardboard container. It’s synonymous with pre-internet, urban adulthood. “Look at me, carelessly maneuvering chopsticks as I sit cross-legged on my overstuffed couch watching Friends.” Enjoy that Chinese food while you can. We both know that you’re going to have to dirty a fresh container if you want to heat it up in the microwave, tomorrow.
