If you live in a civilized country, it’s important that you know which department to contact in case of emergency. In the United States, you call the Highway Patrol if there’s a homeless guy on the median of the expressway. You call the local police department during business hours if teens have tagged a bus stop with an obscene word. You call poison control to make sure the neighbor’s kid doesn’t need to have his stomach pumped for downing half a bottle of Gummy Vitamins. Always ask yourself: Is someone bleeding? Do the authorities need to be involved? And most importantly, is anything on fire? If the answers are no, maybe, yes; call 911. Call them now.
