So, I’ve lived in the Big City for almost a year now and I’m still not sure why everyone else lives here. Like, what makes New York so great? Don’t get me wrong. I effing love it here. It’s rare that something you’ve dreamed of since you were a kid turns out to be exactly what you thought it would be. This transition was seamless. That being said, why have I always wanted to move here? Everything is smushed and crowded all the time. Getting around for BS errands is a ginormous pain in the tuchus. The train is gross. Literally every square of sidewalk has a loogie on it. Why is New York the best? Why do all of these people live here? I don’t mean generally. I mean specifically for the 47 people in front of me at Duane Reade. Are they catching the occasional show? Brunching at the Met? I feel like they’re not. I mean, I’m not either, but c’mon.
